Carlos R. Baralt Suárez
Carlos R. Baralt-Suárez is Of Counsel at Delgado & Fernández, LLC, where he focuses on securities litigation, litigation related to real estate, complex commercial litigation, appeals, and constitutional law controversies. With over a decade of experience in the legal industry, Mr. Baralt-Suárez has successfully represented clients before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and regulatory bodies.
Mr. Baralt-Suárez
has an impressive track record in appellate practice before the First Circuit, the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, and the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. He has drafted multiple merits briefs and motions that have been filed in these courts and has consistently obtained successful outcomes on behalf of his clients.
Prior to joining
Delgado & Fernández, LLC, Mr. Baralt-Suárez served as the Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Alejandro García Padilla. He represented the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico before the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico established under PROMESA, U.S. Congress, and federal agencies.
This experience
gave him a deep understanding of government regulations and policies that he applied to his work advising a top Puerto Rico bank, a major broker-dealer in regulatory matters and representing that firm in arbitration before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and many other leading Puerto Rico companies in the industries of commercial real estate, real estate brokerage, and health care.
Mr. Baralt-Suárez received his LLM degree from Columbia Law School in New York
his BS in Management from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and his JD from the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico. He clerked for the Hon. Juan R. Torruella, Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the Hon. Federico Hernández Denton, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. He also worked in the Litigation Department of O’Neill & Borges, LLC, another major Puerto Rico law firm. He taught Federal Civil Litigation and Motion Practice as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
